Dolomitic Lime
Dolomitic Lime cuts wastewater
treatment costs by reducing the amount of alkali necessary for neutralization.
It offers a 23% reduction in product use versus hydrated calcium lime.
When neutralizing sulfuric acid based wastewater the sludge volume generated
can be cut in half.

Benefits of Dolomitic Lime Include:
- Reduction in usage as compared to high-calcium
lime
- Competitive pricing
- Metals removal at a lower pH
- Bulk or bag deliveries
- Decreased sludge production
- Improved settling of heavy metals
- Reduced pin floc
- Less time and cost to dewater
- Improved pH control

NEUTRALIZATION
COMPARISON
For every ton of sulfuric acid
neutralized with high-calcium lime, 1.4 dry tons of calcium
sulfate are formed. The calcium sulfate and entrapped water
require disposal.
2Ca(OH)2
+ 2H2SO4
--> 2CaSO4
+ 4H2O
(1.4 tons)
When dolomitic lime is substituted
for high-calcium lime in this reaction, the amount of calcium
sulfate generated is reduced by 50%.
Ca(OH)2MgO
+ 2H2SO4
--> CaSO4
+ MgSO4 +
3H2O
(0.7 tons)
The magnesium sulfate formed in
this reaction is soluble, and will not require disposal. This
represents a dramatic saving in landfill costs.

Increased sludge disposal costs have many
calcium lime users evaluating alternatives, but many other alkalis prove
unattractive due to necessary equipment expenditures and handling requirements.
Handling, usage, and storage of dolomitic lime are the same as hydrated
calcium lime. Therefore, conversion does not require capital expenditure.
Dolomitic lime can be shipped to your facility
in bags, supersacks, pneumatic trucks, and rail cars.
